Talks With A Teen #2 (ft. Wamby)

Yo Dudes,

Andddd welcome back to another Talks with a teen!! Did ya miss it?? I know I did. Anyway, this week, our special guest isss –

Give her all a warm welcome and the topic that we will be talking about this week is –

There is no such thing as a BFF

Take it away Wamby!

Who would’ve thought that out of 7 billion people on this damn planet, you got the chance to meet someone who would eat your food yet you still love them. You can make the most crazy stupid faces to each other and laugh so hard to the point where you don’t care that people were staring at you because they’re your best friend and you’re happy that they’re your best friend.

A best friend is the person who will pick you up when your fall…..after they finish laughing.

Like a good bra. They’re hard to find, very comfortable, supportive and always close at heart.

But sometimes best friends separate and it really sucks because you really like that person and they’re like a sibling you never had ( Okay maybe you do but they’re like mega jerks)

Like I met this girl in 6th grade and we both like watching weird stuff on the internet so it’s no surprise that we instantly became friends. Teachers can’t even separate us due to our amazing bestie powers. We were an inseparable duo until high school came and had to ruin EVERYTHING! Goddd first it was my confidence and now my best friend?! What MORE could you possibly WANT!?

There are also some cases where you don’t know if they’re actually your best friend. Like one day, you both are laughing your minds out then BOOM they back stab you like a green cyborg ninja dude.

2 years ago, I met this girl who I thought was my friend until she stopped talking to me because this one donkey was spreading rumors about me and she believed her. Of course I was sad but it’s an all girl school, what do you aspect? Everywhere you go there’s rumors and dramas.

It’s okay though, their pennies to me. They’re two faced and worthless.

To me, there is no such thing as BFFs because things change, friends leave and life doesn’t stop for anyone but there is always that one person who will laugh at the stupid things you do, who will be there even if you’re a thousand miles away and still love you in your best and worst.

Many people will walk in and out of your life but only the ones that leave footprints are the ones that will gladly take a bullet for you.

In life there is 3 types of friends: Friends for a reason, friends for a season and friends for a lifetime but in a lifetime, don’t choose a friend who you known the longest. Choose the one who came and never left your side.

There is no such thing as forever but make every single second more memorable than the other with them so one day you will look back and laugh.

What do you guys think of Wambys point of view? Lemme know down below!

My thoughts –

Okay so as you all know, I’ve had my fair share of friendship struggles (check out these posts here and here for a few of them) and I can honestly say that there IS such a thing as best friends. But I feel like because the phrase “BFFs” even exists, there is a TONNE of extra expectations and pressure during your friendship.

Like for example, “you’re my best friend, you should do this and that”

And that’s the crucial word –  “should”. Because you’ve put that label on it it now means that you’re required to do things that sometimes you don’t wanna do and say things you wouldn’t normally say.

And yes I know friendships can be great at times – having that person that you can just call YOUR best friend. It kinda makes you feel whole and complete and just put together. But friendships can also be fucking shit and cause so much drama and hurt and it’s all because too much is expected of a person and sometimes it’s just hard to handle.

That’s not even the whole issue. You may go into a friendship completely content and happy with your BFF but over time things DO change. It’s happened to me and I’ve seen it happen to other people and it makes you feel like you’ve wasted your time but at the end of the day, I know it’s hard to acknowledge and come to terms with but most friendships never last. Sure it’s fun for a while and you’ll always remember the good times but eventually it’ll just fizzle out and that could be down to literally a million reasons.

But there are some friends who DO last. Like this summer I think I’ve made some friends that I’ll keep with me for a long time if not forever and I’ve got a friend who is so close to me that she’s practically my sister and I’ve known her my whole life.

You see what I mean? Bffs DO exist I guess, but they can come with endless amounts of pressure which I think is just better off not having. Which is why from now on, I’ll never call anyone my best friend. It means no restrictions, promises and upset. Why can’t a person just have a crap tonne of AMAZING friends? I know that’s what I plan on doing and hopefully my friends would think the same.

Overall, I’d agree with the topic that BFFs do exist, but based on actions and certain behaviour, it’s easy to feel like the whole friendship was just a lie. However, the way things end is solely based on the actions of everyone involved and only they can determine what/how to fix a friendship or make the friendship easy going.

I wish having a best friend wasn’t this hard. But it is and I think that it’s just something that we all need to live with and learn as we go along and have new friendships.

Lemme know what you thought about my point of view!

Okay so that’s about it for this blog post!

I loved reading about your different perspectives, such a great idea for a series you have going on, Alex! This was a pretty interesting topic too and I completely agree with you – I personally feel that a best friend is like choosing someone you want to be in a relationship with. The “forever” part – I think it depends. Obviously there are some friendships that really last that long, yet other times people fall out or grow apart. I feel like it’s natural to loose and gain friends throughout your life. Like relationships, friendships don’t always last forever – and that’s okay. I feel like the most important thing is to remember the good times (not just the bad ones) as well when looking back; what are some things that you learnt for life from the other person? What are experiences with them you will never forget? Great post!
