School Election Update #2

Hey Guys!

As you guys know, it’s Monday (yay) BUT as you also know, I applied to be the house captain of my school and I made it down to the student vote, which happened today. So imma give you a rundown of how my day went. P.S – It was filled with a lot of bullshit, shitty people and just a touch of negativity so grab a long blog sized snack, settle in and relax because you’re in for a long ride.

Okay so I went to school early with Hallie this morning with a plan to hide in the toilets during assembly so I would’nt have to see the rest of my peers reaction to my face. She’s also running for captain of her house but she’s a shoe in to win so I’m happy for her.

We then started talking about comic con because I REALLY want to go (btw have you guys seen the massive announcement that the Weeknd is releasing a COMIC with marvel?? dude I’m so happy, I’m gonna buy every issue!!) So anyway, I am going to try and get tickets because the Weeknd might make a guest appearance and I am REALLY wanting to meet him.

Anyway, as I came to school early, I got to have another word with my tutor, because it seems like every Monday, I get terrified because of this election. After some more words of encouragement and wisdom, I decided NOT to bunk my assembly and fave it head on. I mean, what’s the worst that can happened? I tried and that’s all that I can do right?

So when the time for the assembly came, I was sat next to Roxy who was also running so I wouldn’t feel alone. The whole time, I was just WAITING for my picture to show up on the display. 20 minutes past, still no picture. By the time it was over, I was a nervous wreck. I spent all that time stressing, and they never even showed my picture. I mean, I’m grateful, but a part of me wishes I conquered my fear, whereas the other half is telling me to shut the fuck up and deal with it.

After assembly, we all went back up to our tutor groups. When I got t mine, they had delivered the ballot cards for the vote. The Vote. This was it. It was between me, Roxy and another guy. my name was smack bang in the middle of both of theirs.

So lemme tell you guys what this ballot slip look like. It was our name, and next to it was a message from our applications. So everyone else had a strong meaningful message, and you guess what happened to mine? It had a typo…

IT HAD A TYPO!

“I will a great help…” ARE YOU SERIOUSSS??

When I saw it my heart literally sunk. What if that’s the reason why the younger years didn’t vote for me? I was honestly so upset, but my tutor gave me another pep talk and then walked me round my tutor group, and I saw that they all voted for me. I hadn’t even asked them to and they did. They all gave me warm smiles and honestly I felt so welcomed. It was one of the first times I had had a moment with my tutor group so that was really great. As my tutor said “at least I can say I’ve got 20 votes”

After Tutor time, we had our first lesson of the day which was where my year were writing our personal statements to send to college. In that class…the people aren’t the nicest. Roxy and I were both in the class and almost EVERYONE told her to her face that they voted for. If they had stopped thee it would have been fine. But they came right over to me after and said that they DIDN’T vote for me. One guys went as far as to say “If Roxy doesn’t win and Awkward Expert does, I’ll kill myself…Yeah, I have to say, that really hurt.

Maybe they were trying to be mean, or maybe they were just being brutally honest. Either way, they way they went around telling me was complete and utter crap and I can’t wait till the day I ever have to see their stupid asses again (pardon my French) After that lesson I was a little butthurt, but then my male tutor – basically a more chill and laid back guy who’s really cool – (He’s got dreads, is a music teacher AND rides a skateboard like me…awesome). Anyway, he saw me upset, went to the ballad box an asked the people counting who was in the lead. He then came back to me and told me that I hadn’t lost. That means that I am GUARANTEED second place, which is VICE CAPTAIN…AGRHHHH GUYS!!

Honestly, that’s more than enough for me. He basically said he can’t tell me who won, because that wouldn’t me fair, but I am definitely not last…by a long mile…he actually said that!! Now, I know that I didn’t lose (AKA: My main worry) I am doing perfectly fine. I mean, I practically breezed through the rest of the day. I did amazing on my chemistry exam (28 /34), I think I aced my sociology exam, AND I am finally up to date on my textiles coursework. I even started bonding with a girl in my year! Go me! (sorry for the cockiness, I’m just really proud of myself)

So after a crappy start, today turned out to be not that bad. If you guys are having a bad day, try to think if something good to push you through…Trust me it works

Anyway, that’s gonna be it for this blog post. I hope you guys learned the lesson that I was kinda trying to give you guys – please try and not let negative people affect you, the only damage is to your mental health and it’s very important that you are happy. Nobody wants to see you upset, especially not me.
