This blog post is a continuation of my Hell Week: Day TWO blog post, where for the whole of this week, I will be posting exam related posts. In this post, I will be telling you guys how I deal with the endless stress that exams can give. I know it’s hard to deal with, but hopefully with some of my advice, it will make things a little bit easier for you.
The first thing I would recommend you to do is to stop the comparisons. I know that part of the reason that I am stressed is because I am constantly worrying what other people are doing, and wasting time thinking about how I can be like them and have their brain. The quicker you acknowledge that spending time on other people isn’t doing anything to help you, the better.
The next tip I have is to speak to somebody. With me being the socially awkward mess that I am, I express my worries with my guidance counsellor. However you could just talk to anybody. A teacher, one of your friends, or even your parents. Once you’ve told someone, then you can discuss the next steps that you could take in order to receive the stress.
My next piece of advice is not to ask how the exam went afterwards. I know that everyone does this, but DO NOT ask any of your friends how they found the exam or what answer they put for one of the questions. It will only put on more stress that is completely unnecessary because I bet 9 times out of ten they would have put a different answer than you, which will only lead you to stress. Recognise that it’s too late to change your answer and don’t bother yourself with stress that is not needed.
My fourth and final piece of advice is to sleep. A good nights sleep can solve anything. Acknowledge that whatever it is your stressed about probably won’t matter the slightest bit in a years time. Just think and realise that its not that important in the really, really, REALLY long haul.
That’s it for my tips on how to deal with exam stress and I hope that some of these helped you in any way. If they did, be sure to let me know down below, and I’ll see you soon with another blog post!
